Guadalajara: Day 7 | September 26

We started this morning by meeting with the Gomez family over brunch at one of the highest points in the city. It was a chilly morning but still worth the view to sit out on the open veranda at the restaurant. Edgar took us to a lookout spot in their neighborhood where we could see the city and pray over it. We prayed and worshiped together, asking God to move and increase His presence on the people of Guadalajara.

We took a long drive around town and collected bread and supplies to make sandwiches. We cut tomatoes and onions (no tears!) and made an assembly line to put together hundreds of “lonches,” a Mexican style sub sandwich. Shortly after, we made our way to the hospital, where Iglesia Radiante does outreach every month. We worked with the Iglesia Radiante team to give away sandwiches to the families of the people in the hospital, made balloon animals for kids, invited people to church, and prayed for the sick. Some of us even got permission to walk through the ER to pray for the sick, encouraging them that God loves them and has good plans for them.

The food was given out quickly, and the Iglesia Radiante team began worship. While they sang “Reckless Love” in Spanish, several people stopped and asked us to pray for them. One man had severe diabetes, and was very fearful about a procedure he was arriving to have done. After praying, he went on his way with a smile and obvious peace from God!

As we were wrapping up outside the hospital, a storm was rolling in across the city. We made our way to the van through flooded streets that flowed like rivers! When we arrived at our dinner destination, the other members of the outreach team were already waiting for us, and we got to sit together and share one last meal with our Iglesia Radiante family.
