Nicaragua | Day 2
We started our morning with communion and breakfast. We then prayed over the week and asked God to use us wherever He needed us.
After our breakfast and morning prayer, we drove north to Matagalpa and attended a local church service. Even though most of us don’t speak Spanish, we could recognize some of the songs we sang during worship. You could really feel His presence in the room all throughout worship and the message. After church, three of us took a cab to Margine’s home and had a delicious lunch of chicken and gallo pinto. We left our personal items at Margine’s since we would be staying in her home later that evening, and walked to the Young Life Club where she volunteers for a tour.
Later in the afternoon, we drove up a mountain to a lookout over the city and we prayed for the city and the country of Nicaragua. As we prayed, a rainbow appeared and when we were done praying, it drifted over us and dissipated! Then, as we were driving back down the mountain, we saw a mother sloth and her baby sleeping in a tree right next to the road! What a magical first full day!
We walked to the Young Life club from Carrie’s home to see how they run their ministry. When we arrived, we found out the power had gone out throughout the whole city. Thankfully, we were able to use the flashlights on our phones for the lesson until power was restored. It was a great night of encouraging the youth and meeting new friends.
