Nicaragua | Day 5
Today we drove back to Matagalpa for a prayer walk around the city. While doing this, we prayed over six universities in the city. Some already have Young Life Clubs at their locations and some did not. We prayed for influence, for professors to be accepting of the work Young Life is doing, and for God to make a way for His plans in this city. Later in the week we found out that one of the universities we prayed for accepted a Young Life club on campus and a professor wanted to be trained to be a leader!
We then went to Carrie’s house for lunch and a break. At lunch, we felt prompted to encourage the Young Life team and remind them that what they are doing is important! Each day they are building relationships with the youth of Nicaragua, and are teaching them to rely on God to overcome the inevitable struggles in life. We then broke into smaller groups and shared even more, and prayed over each other. There were a lot of tears. Happy tears!
Afterwards, we walked to the Young Life Club where they explained to us how they disciple each other and their Young Life attendees. Marta shared that over 30 years ago, there was a woman that lived across the street from where the club is now, and for years had prayed that a group would come to teach the youth about Jesus. Then in 1988, missionaries came and purchased this building to use for the Young Life Club! This club was truly an answer to prayer, and that hasn’t changed after all this time.
