Revolutionary Faith: What is Your Life?
Revolutionary Faith: What is Your Life?
Speaker: Pastor Lee Cummings
Date: August 15, 2020
The gift of today matters – it matters because eternity matters. In this sermon from Pastor Lee Cummings, we focus on the importance of today. Not yesterday or tomorrow, but the moment we’re in right now. What are you going to do with this moment?
Focus Scripture
James 4:13-17 (ESV)
“Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit”— 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.” 16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. 17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.”
Sermon Highlights
A proper perspective of time and eternity affects the way that we live today.
James is challenging the “self-contained certainty” of those who have a lot of money and a lot of options.
The world is a mirage.
The gift of today matters.
Today matters because eternity matters.
There is one resource that every one of us has: time.
God is always speaking. Do you hear Him today?
Jesus told us that the greatest danger for the believer in the last days would be spiritual slumber and demonic intoxication with the spirit of the age.
Oftentimes, the thing that gets in the way of hearing God today is that we’re worried about yesterday or anxious about tomorrow.
