Take Heed, Watch and Pray: Prevailing Prayer

Speaker: Pastor Lee Cummings
Date: January 23, 2021

Fasting reminds us that our world is not our home. In this series that coincides with our 21 days of prayer and fasting, we dive deep into the Mark 13 scripture that says take heed, watch and pray.

In Part Four of Prevailing Prayer, Pastor Lee Cummings preaches on prayer and the importance of staying in step with the Holy Spirit.

Focus Scripture

Luke 21:34-36 (ESV)

“But watch yourselves lest your hearts be weighed down with dissipation and drunkenness and cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come upon all who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

Sermon Highlights

  • The prescription Jesus gives us is to stay awake at all times and pray.

  • You get all the strength you need by praying.

  • If you view the world through the lens of flesh, you’ll get all messed up. If you view it through the lens of the spirit, you will have victory.

  • God has given you spiritual night-vision.

  • Stay in step with the Holy Spirit.

  • Refuse to give up a single inch to the enemy.

  • Prevailing Prayer must be:

    1. Intimate

    2. Persistent

    3. Militant

  • You’re so close to a miracle. Don’t lose heart.

  • Pray until it happens.

  • Angels move at the weakest of our prayers.
