Nicaragua | Day 4

On Tuesday morning, we took communion together. We included all of the leaders that were there and explained that we don’t need to be priests or pastors, but we all can lead communion and use whatever elements God supplies us with. They ended up participating in communion with us throughout the rest of the week, which was huge because until now, they had never taken communion together as just a group of believers without being led by a catholic priest!

We went back to our service project of sanding the bricks for a few hours. Then we went down to Matagalpa for a few hours to meet up with the Young Life leaders at a park. We were able to play basketball, soccer, and volleyball with volunteers and local children, as well as paint each other’s nails and make crafts.

That evening after dinner, we had a huge bonfire up on top of the mountain. Carrie told us that this is where the campers come after they receive Christ. While there, we had s’mores, sang worship, and laughed together. It was a beautiful night under the stars with new friends.
