Katí, her mother, and brother, Victor, with the bags of food they received.

It was Thursday when Katí and her little brother, Victor, were carrying a small bag as they trudged down the gravel road on their way to the main highway that cuts through the Guatemalan countryside near the village of Lemoa. In their bag, they had a white flag–a symbol that shows they are begging for food.
On their way, they saw that pastors Pedro and Rosa Morales were at the local church so they stopped in to ask for prayer.

Pastor Rosa, a motherly figure, asked Katí what she needed prayer for and Katí explained: They had run out of food at home and she and her brother were on their way to beg for help. They wanted prayer that people would stop and help them. The last time they had gone begging there were a lot of other children along the road and Katí and Victor only received a single coin worth about 13 US cents. Then it began to rain. Stopping at a nearby store they used that coin to buy a piece of plastic so they could cover themselves from the rain. No one else gave them anything that day so they went home with only their plastic.

After Katí explained the situation, pastor Rosa knew just what to do, because God had already provided packets of corn, rice, and beans for Katí and her family. In fact, the bags of food were so heavy, Katí had to call her mother to come help carry them home.

As a family, Katí, Victor, and their mother left happily loaded up with the food that God provided for them before they even asked.

The food bag that Pastors Rosa and Pedro gave to Katí was one of many food packets that Reach World Mission has delivered to local churches to help them provide for the needs of their communities.

“By working with local churches and pastors like Rosa and Pedro, we are able to get food out to the families with real needs and connect people back to Christ and the local church where they can grow spiritually and be discipled,” said RWM missionary Michael Shead.
